A Palestinian-Jordanian artist, gallerist, and aesthete, Raida Shahin deliberately creates spontaneous yet subtly constructed color compositions in abstract forms, reflecting her emotions, sensations, and memories. She has participated in several art exhibitions, presenting works that explore intuition, abstraction, and inner landscapes. Living between two culturally rich countries, Jordan and Nigeria, has greatly enriched Shahin’s artistic and personal experience. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Archaeology from the University of Jordan, she returned to Nigeria to continue her path as an educator. It was there that Nigeria’s spontaneous beauty deeply shaped her visual sensitivity and appreciation for art. Shahin often finds herself in an ongoing dialogue that seeks to transcend borders through art, subconsciously portraying images of Palestinian people and places. She describes her work as axiomatic—built upon ambiguous figures and patterns—allowing each piece to offer new perspectives and remain open to interpretation by the viewer. Shahin states: “I appreciate art in all its forms. The divinities that constantly surround us, both in nature and in human construction, are all forms of art. If you have an eye for it, then art is all around you.”
