"Earth's Whispers"

Whilst exploring the Earth I have found truth and connection from grand mountains to garden dirt. There seems to be a divine connection, silent but buried by our furious pursuits of progress and consumption which have deprived us of the contemplative blessings in our lived experience.

“Earth’s Whispers” is about slowing down enough to communicate with the universe and observe the genuine qualities of our existence. This exhibition experiments with the idea of amplifying Earth’s whispers by reintroducing their presence within our surroundings.

My aim was to give primacy to earth both as a subject and a medium for mounting its gravitas. Garden soil, gypsum, and glass are deployed to frame the scapes I witnessed. Together they invite natural materials to be used in modern structures; a healing step towards an Earth where toxins and microplastics are not putting us in total jeopardy.

The inspiration behind this body of work came from listening to garden dirt. To the whispers of soil microbes that are essential to plant growth, water capture and limiting climate change. The whispers of cool summers and toasty winters fostered by homes made of mud. The whispers of grounding that comes from sitting with this abundant form of earth.

You are invited to practise slowness and engage your universal senses in this experience. I encourage you to practice this perception in your life and consider how you may amplify such Earthly whispers through your own unique capabilities.
